How to edit a PDF (Sejda-style)

1. Drop a PDF onto the upload area — pages render instantly in your browser.
2. Pick Text — hover existing PDF text (blue highlight) and click to edit it in place, or click empty space to add new text.
3. Use Draw, Highlight, Underline, Strike, Whiteout, shapes, Image, or Sign for markup.
4. Optional: click AI OCR to extract text from a scanned page with an on-device model (downloaded once, then cached).
5. Click Apply & Download — originals you edited are covered and your new text is written into the PDF locally.

Why edit PDFs locally?

Online editors like Sejda’s web app upload your file to a server. That is a poor fit for contracts, IDs, or anything confidential. This editor renders with pdf.js and writes changes with pdf-lib — entirely in your tab. Your file never leaves the device.

On-device AI OCR

The AI OCR button runs Tesseract.js in your browser. On first use it downloads language data and caches it; later pages work offline. Extracted text lands in an editable text box you can restyle and reposition before saving.

What this editor is (and is not)

Built for markup and light editing: type on PDFs, highlight, whiteout, draw signatures, insert images, and shapes. It does not reflow paragraphs like a word processor or rebuild complex AcroForm UIs. For merge, split, rotate, or watermark, use the dedicated PDF tools linked below.
